Yesterday Jaime and I decided that we needed some exercise but that it was too hot to take the boys walking outside. So, we went to walk in the Woodlands Mall. (We actually did pretty good...only stopped in a few stores.) Anyway, I had my first diaper-changing experience in a public restroom and lets just say it didn't go so well. When I noticed Jackson had an explosive diaper situation, I grabbed him, a diaper, and a few wipes. I left my stroller and the diaper bag (how dumb am I?) with Jaime and Latham. I get in there, and the 5 wipes that I had were clearly not enough. I contemplated yelling for Jaime, but that seemed difficult since Jackson was lying on the changing table squirming and oh yess.....continuing to poop and pee while I'm changing him (although I'm happy to say not on me...in the diaper). I was chunking wipes and a nasty diaper in the trash can thinking...I am so gross...why didn't I bring my handy little disposable diaper bags in here...no one wants to smell this. I quickly put on the new diaper and realized I could not wash my hands while I'm holding a baby. Good thing I had hand sanitizer in my purse (I mean the diaper bag that I am now evidently calling my purse...oh geez). I learned a lot from that silly little situation:
1. Always have way more wipes than you think you need.
2. Never go into the bathroom without your diaper bag...you never know what might happen in there.
3. Don't mumble harsh things when you see a nasty diaper in the trash can that someone so rudely placed in there...it may have been a new mom just like me. Cut her some slack. She's learning!
That night we decided to meet Nick and Kyle to go eat out near the mall. Thanks to mom's advice to NEVER go anywhere without a bottle, we were able to do it. (I thought we would be home before his next feeding.) So see, I'm learning and taking advice and getting there. =)
Anyway, here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks. I can't believe how much the little guy is growing and changing....but he still likes his hands by his face! And yes...we still keep the mittens on him. He scratches the fire out of his face if we don't!
I cracked up when I found Jackson sleeping like this...
I posted the link to Jackson's pictures in the previous blog, so check them out if you haven't. We are looking forward to the weekend. Kyle's parents and my brothers and Kendyl are coming in town, so we are super excited! We are also looking forward to watching LSU get one step closer to winning the College World Series tomorrow night. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Anyway, we are doing well and adjusting more and more by the day. I am getting much faster at changing diapers, and I am proud to say I have not been peed on this week...yet! Jackson is really easy to take places right now since he sleeps a lot during the day (so he can rest up for keeping us awake at night!)
PS - I realize some of the above pictures are crooked, but my computer rotated them when I uploaded them. They were upright before, so who knows.
OK gotta go...Kyle is yelling from his rocker that he's ready for dessert...haha...pretty soon Jackson will be yelling for his "dessert" too...guess I have to go take care of my boys. I love my job!

You learned very quickly! It took me a while to figure out to bring EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE. You never know where you will be. One time Sarabeth had explosive poop when we were at JoAnns Fabric and I had to take her to the car and change her and it got everywhere! I had no extra clothes so she went home in a diaper and a hair bow! Now I never leave the house without extra clothes and plastic bags.
I think Jaime may be the baby whisperer. If I ever have a baby I am putting her on speed dial right after my mother!
You are so far ahead of me! I have never taken care of a baby in my life. I held one for the first time a few months ago and that was a huge step for me!
I have a lot to learn too!
PS I like the pictures rotated the way they were--it made Jackson look even longer! :)
Lindsey, Jackson is so cute! He is getting so big and long too! I am so glad that we have Jaime around to help us out! She is a lifesaver! Hope that y'all have a great weekend with the fam!
I love that you called your diaper bag your purse. I was just telling April last night how my diaper bag is my purse, and when it's just me, I just stick the stuff in my pockets. Sad...one day I'll carry a fashionable purse again. At least we have some cute boys with us always...they distract others from the purses anyways. :)
