You Know What They Say...Time FLIES When You're Having Fun!

Wow! I cannot believe today is our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! On this day back in 2003, we were just about to leave our wedding reception. I did not know even that day, filled with so much love and excitement, how incredibly rewarding and AMAZING this marriage would be. And I know it only gets better! People always told us (in the beginning) that the first year would be the hardest but every year it would get better and better. Well, the first year was definitely NOT hard in my opinion...we have always had a blast and get along so well I guess because we are so much alike yet so different...but it was true that it gets better and better. At the time, it does not feel like it could get ANY better so it IS hard to explain, but it does! That excites me beyond belief because this is only the beginning!

I can't believe how much has changed in five years! Five years ago we were both still in college and working pretty hard. (Kyle is still working pretty hard...haha) Kyle was working at Albertson's and I was working in the Dorm at LSVI (Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired). We were living in Ole London Towne apartments off O'Neal. I loved that first apartment! We have lived in four places since then...our apartment on Bluebonnet, my mom's house (it has to be counted b/c were were there for 3 months while our house was being built), our house in Springlake, and now our house in Texas!

When we first got married, we always said that when we both graduated, we wanted to move to Texas. We were thinking more along the lines of the Dallas area, and when Kyle graduated (from undergrad) that wasn't what God had in store for us. Looking back now, I see why God had us where he did in Baton Rouge for those 4 years following Kyle's graduation. Of course after we were settled into our careers and life in Baton Rouge as a family, the idea of moving away drifted further and further from our minds. When Kyle was nearing the end of his MBA program, he started the interview process again. In November, the opportunity with Exxon came up and here we are...in Houston...five years later...with a beautiful baby boy...five hours from home! We love it here and as has been true of everything in our marriage so far (and in life in general), we see why God has us here at this point. Some days it is hard to be away from home. Especially here lately, I have wished so badly for family to be nearby. At the end of the day, though, this is God's perfect plan, and we are so thrilled to be here. God has placed such amazing friends in our lives and at such a special time!

Speaking of amazing friends, last night Nick and Jaime offered to keep Jackson so Kyle and I could go out and celebrate our anniversary. We did not think twice about it, and made reservations at a yummy steak house that Nick suggested (Perry's). The food was amazing, and it was so nice to go out alone. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy taking Jackson with us everywhere, but it was nice to sort of start this new chapter with Jackson out right...making time for us! As we pulled out of their driveway we laughed...neither one of us felt sad or guilty for leaving him...we were excited about our date! Plus, we knew he was in good hands. Jaime said she was excited to get to snuggle with Jackson, so we were glad to give her that opportunity! :) Getting ready to leave was pretty funny...if you have ever had a baby boy I'm sure you learned quickly to put your clothes on at the last minute. Well, I already knew that and actually thought about it as I put on my pants an HOUR before we were going to leave. Silly idea. Right as Kyle was almost home to get us, I was changing Jackson and...yep...ALL OVER MY PANTS! I had NO other pants to wear and ended up wearing capris to a really nice restaurant. Oh well, such is motherhood. The funny thing is I did not care. I was just happy I had clothes on! :) He manages to make me smile even when he pees all over me. I think that was time number 10 (at least). I'll get him back when he's older.

Anyway, so we had a wonderful anniversary weekend. I still can't believe it's been five years! So excited about the next 75!

Much Love!

Isn't it neat to look back and see that it is so much better each and every day!
Perry's? Yum! That is one of our favorite NICE places. We will be heading there in a month for our anniversary too! :)
