I cannot believe it has been 6 weeks. I had my post partum appt. with Dr. White today, and it felt so weird to be back there...with Jackson. It was good to see Dr. White again, and it was good to be able to see the scale when they checked my weight haha. I'm so happy to be able to work out now! I need it. Next time I'm pregnant I'm not going to gain 45 lbs!!! But it was all for a good cause, right?! =)
We have really settled in to a nice routine. (Don't get me wrong; I still don't know what to say when people ask, "So what's his schedule?" I laugh every time.) We switched formulas (now taking Nestle Good Start), and I think it was a good move. He's sleeping a tad longer at night and really only waking up once, sometimes twice to feed. This is all helping me feel more like "me" since I have more energy during the day! It's funny because five weeks ago I never thought I'd feel like myself again. I never thought I'd be back doing things I like to do, and it would be diapers and formula forever. It's funny how just a few weeks (plus hormones leveling out!) can make a huge difference. I'm liking this motherhood thing. I think it agrees with me! =)
I struggled for a couple of weeks about being a stay at home mom. I thought, is this really what I want to do? I'm accustomed to being such a busy person who enjoys being stressed out (sick I know), so this switch to being at home and not having a "to do" list a mile long has been an adjustment. I felt that I wasn't being productive. It's funny to hear myself say that now because I have a job that is 24/7! It's not like I'm sitting around on the couch! I don't think there is a "wrong" or "right" way. I think that staying home works for some and doesn't for others, but I think I'm going to enjoy it for now.
Jackson has been a busy man lately. He's been working hard on growing! I noticed him getting bigger just while we were in Baton Rouge. He started taking 5 oz. of formula at every feeding while we were there, and some of his newborn onesies are getting a little snug =(. He has become so much more alert, and I am enjoying playing with him and watching him discover things about his surroundings. He can hardly sit still because he is moving his head from side to side to look at every little thing around him. It's so precious to watch! He also had his first road trips and first visit to church this past week! He's smiling a lot more, and sometimes it seems intentional. He just started (today) taking naps in his room. I will admit I'm not quite ready for him to be in there at night. I like him beside my bed where I can hear him breathing. As soon as I have him taking naps in there for a few days, I think we'll start putting him in there at night...especially since he's sleeping longer now. He's also scooting around a lot on his little tummy mat and pushing up with his legs when you hold him. He likes to be in the standing position to look around. He loves to be in on all the action. Wonder where he gets that from? I've been reading to him some and talking to him about Mike the Tiger. Ha. For some reason every time I start to tell him a story that's the first thing that comes to mind.
Anyway, Jackson did WONDERFUL on our trips this past week. He slept the entire time we were in the car. We switched his formula last Saturday, and he was a little fussier than usual for a few days, but he evened out quickly. I even drove back with him by myself from BR to Houston, and he did great. I'm so glad he loves to travel! =) I'm going to try to post pics from our trips while he's still asleep.
xoxo
