Help!
I have a question for all you moms out there. I have been using Nursery Water to mix Jackson's formula with since he began taking formula. I have read on some sites that it is dangerous because of the added fluoride it contains. I am pretty sure I have heard that we have well water in our area, and I figured it would be more dangerous even if boiled. Everything that I have read seems to conflict, so I'm just curious as to what is the best way. I am also reading that bottled water often contains more bacteria than tap water. Even if we do not have well water coming from our tap, I know it contains a lot of chlorine. I can smell it when I take a bath, plus it tastes funny...hence the reason most people around here use purified water. Any suggestions? I don't want to keep using Nursery Water if what I have read is true and am not opposed to boiling water everyday, but I want to do the best thing. Why would they sell this at Babies R Us and market it the way they do if it is unsafe?

Lindsay,
I used distilled water for Sarabeth and moved to the nursery water when she started getting teeth. I did use nursery water for a while, but switched because I couldn't always find it. I think you will be fine. Sometimes you just have to go with your mother instinct and do what you think is right. Don't believe everything you read or you will worry to death!
Just caught up on all of your new posts. Can't wait to see y'all! About the water, I agree with April...go with your mother's instinct. I would just use the purified water out of the fridge for Latham.
We were in the same area as you when James Neal was a bebe. Our dr. said regular bottled water would be fine- and even gave us the go ahead to use tap water. He did say no nursery water until he was older. They do need flouride later--- just not too early. If you are still anxious, ask your pediatrician what he/she would recommend. *I became a mom in Texas away from family as well... Your 'trail of tears' was all too familiar to me. No matter how good my intentions were, or how much my head understood things, my heart ached for home... more than just family---for Lousiana. Nothing but time helped that ache... and it never stopped it completely. My hubster just took a job with Exxon here in BR... moving to Zachary this weekend. This is a hard time for you, all this transitioning. Hang in there. Texas is different. Good... but in very different ways. If you need a sympathetic ear, find me at my blog- I get what you are going through. I've been there, sugar. *Bebe Jackson is a doll. Peace, Lindsey
Hi Lindsay, I am Cindy Singleton's daughter and started looking at your blog after seeing your precious baby pictures! I have a 6 month old and have been right where you are. I now use purified water right out of my fridge. I refill my water bottles but don't put them in the refrigerator so they don't get cold so I don't have to heat the bottle. My best friend is a dental hygienist and told me not to use the nursery water. Parker has done fine, and we haven't had any problems. Might want to give it a try. It sure is cheaper!! And if that doesn't work, you could always go to the next option! Good luck. Your sweet baby is adorable!
Here's the deal Linds. Every neighborhood has their own water district as you well know. Every water district may/may not put the same chemicals in their water. Have your water tested if you are really concerned. Emmalie grew up on the tap water from Spring Creek Oaks and has no cavities, gorgeous teeth. In fact none of the kids have cavities; frankly it's probably more genetics than anything. Ask Dr. K what he thinks...I love him! (Well as a dr., you know)
By the way...just know that after 25 years of living in Houston I sometimes still have those tears. But mostly just teary eyed. I understand all you are going through, call if you need me.
