Rainy Day

It is absolutely pouring today. I love it. I just love rainy days when it's kind of dark outside & everything inside feels so cozy. I guess it was not all that fun when we got soaked earlier leaving my Dr.'s appointment, but anyway. Jackson is sleeping, so I thought I would write a little about what has been going on with us this past week.

Jackson and I took a little impromptu trip to North LA last week, which was super fun. It was his first visit to Henry's Hill (my grandparents) & his first visit to my aunt and uncle's. I think he thoroughly enjoyed both places & getting to meet even more family/friends!

Kyle missed us while we were gone but was finally able to track down a Wii. Can I tell you how many places we called before finding one? So that kept him entertained, and we have enjoyed playing it together. Aren't we such great role models? Sitting around playing Nintendo 'til all hours of the night...haha. Really, we bought it to entertain our little cousins when they come in town...I promise. =)

Let's see...this past weekend I finally gave in and went to the Museum of Natural Science. Kyle has been dying to go! It was kind of like a field trip... very educational! It really was a neat museum, and it was a fun thing to do. In the Energy Hall, I learned a lot about Oil & Natural Gas. (No, this is not something that has come with parenthood, thank you very much. Kyle & I have been nerds for quite a while now. I will say that I was not one before marrying him...just to get that out there.) Jackson was inspired by this exhibit and all the "gas" talk & decided to do the biggest stinker of his life right then and there...

I especially enjoyed the Butterfly exhibit. It has so neat to see the butterflies feeding on plates of fruit. Jackson seemed to enjoy looking at all of the shells and gemstones. His eyes were super wide. I broke the rules and took a few pictures in the gem vault...didn't see a sign that said you couldn't take pictures, but heard people talking about me...haha. The museum also had some neat things for kids that are a little older to do.
We finally went to Ruggles bakery in Rice Village. Everyone has been telling me for so long that we have to go, and it was super yummy! Jackson was hilarious. He was so intrigued by Kyle's cake. He had this look on his face that just made you want to give him a big bite of it. I keep telling him that it won't be long before he can eat all that fun stuff.
I know I have talked about Mr. Moose, but I'm not sure if I've posted a picture of him. Let me just tell you about Mr. Moose. If you ever need a babysitter, just give me a call and I'll send him right over. He is always willing to entertain Jackson while I'm getting ready or doing other things...free of charge! He is even willing to travel. We hung him from the car seat on the way to the museum, and J just laughed and talked to Mr. Moose the whole way there. Too cute.
OK and now for Jackson's latest silliness. This little guy cracks me up. Maybe watching the Olympics has inspired him to take up flipping or diving or whatever you call this latest little act that he does. He (as you know) is not a fan of being on his tummy. Well, Kyle was insisting that he lay on his tummy because of his board-flat head. Kyle had the arms of the pillow around him to where he couldn't roll over. So...Jackson decided to show him who was in control & dove over his little pillow. I kept putting him back on the pillow & he would just dive over it every time. What can I say...he's got a strong will. Wonder where he gets that from?

Here he is...content for a minute.
Contemplating his escape route...realizes rolling over is not an option...
Taking the plunge...no stopping him now...
Happy as can be...wonder how long it will take for him to realize that after all that diving he's still on his tummy? =) At least he's happy!
That's all for now. I can't believe we have been here 5 months & Jackson is 3 months old.
Have a great day!
