Thank you, Gustav, for giving us a reason to see our family!

When we went to BR post-Gustav, we mostly worked in yards but were able to get some great quality time in with Maw Maw & Paw Paw & Keith & Kayla. We stayed at Keith & Kayla's house, and Jackson really had a good time with Uncle Keith and Aunt Kayla. He thought Uncle Keith was hilarious, and laughed at him for one of the first times we heard him laugh out loud. Uncle Keith also gave us some great advice: He said that we should put baby powder in Jackson's crevices so they wouldn't stink. Thanks, Uncle Keith! You'll be happy to know that we have been following your advice. Hehe.

We hung out at Maw & Paw's during the day. They didn't have electricity, but the breeze on their porch felt great! Maw Maw watched Jackson for us a lot so Kyle & I could work in the yard together. This was great because it's not so often we are able to do anything to help our own family. Jackson and Maw Maw really bonded, and when we went driving around to look at the devastation in the area around Maw & Paw's house, Jackson could not stop talking to Maw Maw. I guess he was telling her how much he enjoyed spending time with her. I thought this video was too cute. Thanks, Maw Maw, for taking such good care of us even though you had no electricity!

Maw & Paw took us to eat at Chimes. The food was great and the fellowship, as always--even greater! Here's Jackson listening very intently to what Paw is saying.
Jackson enjoying sitting on the porch with Paw Paw.
I didn't manage to get many pictures from this trip, but it was great to see family even under the circumstances. We even got to eat Las Palmas and see Chad and Ashley's beautiful new home and at the same time visit our newest friend, Lucy Wilson (Mike & Lori's little girl--born the day of Gustav!) Lucy is precious and big brother Brooks was too cute with her. We are so happy for the Wilson family and can't wait to see little Lucy again! Here is a picture of Kyle holding her.
We were sad that we didn't get to see everyone at JBC on Sunday morning due to the service being canceled. We miss you all so much and can't wait to see you when we come in October!
