Kyle and I always look forward to weekends with nothing to do, but the crazy people within us always convince us to come up with all sorts of things for us to do when we could be relaxing at home. There are just so many fun things to do; it's hard not to get out and enjoy! And besides, we wouldn't be able to complain about being tired if we were at home resting all the time...hello! ;)
We started the weekend off with a little early Valentine's dinner at Perry's--one of our favorite restaurants here. Let's just say first of all that it was a better idea in theory. The evening went GREAT, but the mental anxiety of it all was a tad stressful--although we laughed the entire time. We decided to bring our little man with us. We walked into Perry's and I got a huge lump in my throat. I forgot how incredibly quiet the restaurant is.
Who brings a 9 month old in there???? Only us. I'm quite sure.
I started panicking that he would start talking loud...I had everything on standby for the slightest bit of noise. Bottle. Check. Toys. Check. Biter biscuits to chew on. Check. Oops I only brought one, what was I thinking? Anyway, amazingly enough, the little man just sat there for a while. Then, he got excited and started talking. Loudly. So, the stuffing began.
Jackson sure had a good night. We gave him anything and everything to eat. He enjoyed eating off of both of our plates and the stuff we brought him as well. When I tell you we stuffed his face the entire time, we did! Haha. I think we were both relieved when our bill came and we realized that we made it through with no problems at all. Good job, little man.
Here he is afterwards...quite full and flashing his "crazy smile." He still breaks it out every now and then. This time he was probably thinking "Haha...suckers."
And one with Mommy
We came home to eat our dessert (we got to-go) and after...work on the carpet! Poor Kyle. He left a glass of milk on the floor, and Jackson tumped it over. He was pretty mad at himself. I say it's just one of those things. So we came home to Rug Doctor it up. Kyle was not very much in the mood for me to be taking pictures of him, but I did anyway. I eventually got fussed at. ;)
The next day we decided to sleep in, do a little more Rug Doctoring, and go to the Body Worlds Museum. Let me first tell you that as we are walking into the musuem, Kyle chuckles and says, "The last time I saw a brain I passed out." Ummm...so WHY are we going to look at dead bodies???? Haha. But he was totally fine, and it was incredible! I would have to say that the neatest (and most overwhelming) part of the museum for me was seeing embryos and fetuses at every stage of development. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We didn't take time to read every little thing because, come on people, we had Jackson with us in yet another place that people don't usually bring babies!Jackson really was such a good camper, and I enjoyed telling him about things that are way over his head. I'm sure people were laughing at me as they walked by and heard me explaining the difference between veins and arteries as we looked at the heart of a person who had experienced a traumatic aortic rupture. Well, he asked me what an aorta was, so I then I had to tell him all about arteries...Geez. ;)
They would not let us take pictures inside the museum...go figure, so I'm sorry I have none to share. Actually, I have this one of Jackson taken while we were outside eating lunch. (I think this was right after the random little girl came over and gave Jackson a kiss on the forehead. haha.)
After seeing all those dead bodies, we needed some fresh air! So...we decided to check out Hermann Memorial Park. LOVE that park! It's so peaceful. I enjoyed watching all the different people relax in different ways...and of course relaxing myself.

The weekend ended with some hang out time with friends. Jackson loved this toy!
Our actual Valentine's weekend was spent with Grammy, Pops, and Uncle Kevo. We had a really great visit, and it was fun having them here for Jackson's first Valentine's Day. They showed up at our house with Lupe Tortilla in hand...that's what I'm talking about. Way to start a visit off on the right foot. ;) Saturday, the guys played basketball at one of the Elementary schools in our neighborhood. Grammy, Jackson and I went over to watch them shoot. We all had fun exploring the amazing playground. I think Pops (Mr. Denny) had the most fun...haha. We later went to Old Town Spring and hit up a few shops before it rained like crazy! We decided to eat at home since we knew so many people would be out for Valentine's Day. It was fun and relaxing. We were so happy that they were able to go to church with us Sunday.
We were super blessed to have TWO visits from family during the past month or so. My mom, sis, Aunt Jan, cousin Lauren, Granny & Pappy came a couple of weeks before Kyle's family. We had a blast and just enjoyed hanging out...shopping, etc. It has been a really great month. I cannot believe March is here and soon we will have been living here for a year. I woke up today with a bittersweet feeling. This time last year was Kyle's last day at Chase. That started his month off before starting work over here, and everything was a whirlwind during March...baby showers, a trip over here to meet the movers bringing our stuff, lots of lunch dates and squeezing in time with friends, Kyle's graduation party, a goodbye party from our SS class (Louisiana food!), my last few weeks of work, really soaking in everything and everyone and all the while being excited about what lied ahead...a new home, a new baby, so much on the horizon that we didn't even know about...God has been so good to us. I say it was bittersweet because I have so many great memories of this time last year, but it is a little sad to think that was already a year ago. Wow. Here we are with a 9 month old and very settled in our new home. We are anxious to visit our other home--our forever home (LOUISIANA!) very soon! We love you all and are so thankful that we have two states we can call home. What a blessing.

Perry's food could leave anyone breathless! (including Jackson) Hah!
We are planning to go to Perry's soon (and we even have a nice gift certificate for the occasion--3rd time since folks know how much we like it) I briefly considered bringing David...briefly! Very nice that J was that cooperative; I doubt sincerely that D would be.
The line about Kyle fainting the last time he saw a brain made me laugh since you were walking into a huge exhibit about dead bodies. Funny. I also love the pic of you smiling so pretty and J with his tongue out. Cute. Love, Kim
