Here are a couple of the "not-so-fun firsts" that have made their way into J's days recenlty:
1. His first "spanking"
You see, Jackson has started this precious little habit of flashing this mischievous grin (which, by the way, very closely resembles the "crazy smile" I wrote about in my Christmas post) right before he does something he's not supposed to do. This lets us know that he knows he's doing something wrong! Well, this time we decided it was waaaay too deliberate not to be dealt with. He was in his high chair eating a turkey sandwich (stop laughing, mom), and all the sudden he looked around, flashed the grin, and started flinging turkey on the floor. Kyle walked over to him, held his hand, and said "No." He started laughing and continued to fling the turkey across the floor. So Kyle spanked his little hand. Let's just say it broke his little heart. And mine.
2. His first "Boo Boo report"
Since I am working in one of the 3 year old classes, Jackson gets to go to VBS this year. I was so excited to bring him to his first of many VBS experiences! When I picked him up today, he had a swollen red mark on his eye, and one of his teachers handed me his first Boo Boo report. Poor little guy. It had a decription of the "incident", which involved Jackson tripping over a toy, falling and hitting his eye (at the left brow bone). My favorite part was how it said "Action taken: Comforted with hugs and ice pack." I couldn't help but smile. His teachers are so loving, and I am so thankful for them as his first VBS teachers!
Poor little guy! It's no fun getting in trouble or getting hurt! It's all a part of growing up, though. We're proud of you and how much you're learning and doing. Love you, little guy!
