Kyle and I were SO excited when we found out Rice would be playing in the Baton Rouge Super Regional. It was such a fun reason to plan a spontaneous trip home and watch our two favorite teams play! We were brave little souls and showed up at LSU in Rice gear. For those of you who are new to my Blog, Kyle and I both graduated from LSU and are die hard LSU fans; however, Kyle's cousin, Ryan Lewis, plays baseball (and football) for the Rice Owls. We had been going to the Rice games all season and have always supported Ryan, so we knew...we had to support the family! We took a lot of flack for it, too.

I will say, the people in our section at LSU were so nice and even cheered for Ryan. LSU baseball fans are nothing like LSU Football fans. Although the fans are a little more tame, there are always a few rowdy Cajuns to make things interesting. One behind us kept shaking this pole with a stuffed Owl hanging from it. Ha!
I didn't get to watch the game for long that first night. We came straight from Houston to the game, and Jackson was not so much feeling like being there (*understatement*.) People were saying things to me like, "Honey, he's probably upset because he's got that Rice t-shirt on." Haha. My mom came and rescued us, and we watched the rest of the game at my parent's house. Although I hated to leave, it was nice to get to visit with them for a little while! It was a heartbreaking loss for Rice that night. Kyle came and got us after the game, and we headed out to Keith and Kayla's to spend the weekend. We had a blast as always. The next day, Kayla and I went to work out while the boys took care of little J, and then we all met up with Kyle's parents and brother, Kevin, at the park! We had a fun picnic and good times playing on the playground equipment and watching the boys play tennis and throw the ball. Later that afternoon, we headed out to Game 2. This time I didn't have another Rice shirt to wear, so I wore a blue t-shirt (although the wrong color blue) and a LSU hat to sort of represent both teams.
Kayla also represented both teams...notice the purple tank top coming out of the bottom of her shirt!
Keith & Kayla
The new Alex Box Stadium is so nice! I didn't get a good picture of the outside of it, but I think I posted one a while back.

It was beyond HOTT at this game, but Kayla and I had fun . Everyone around us was amused when Rice was losing and Kayla took off her Rice t-shirt and sported the purple tank top she was wearing underneath. People started giving her high fives.
Rice ended up losing this game, so LSU won the Super Regional. It was a strange mix of emotions because I was sooo sad for Ryan and the Owls, but I was proud that LSU would be going to Omaha. Just wish BOTH LSU and Rice could have been in Omaha! Maybe next year! Ryan had a great season, and we are so very proud of him!!! I can't tell you how cool it was to see our cousin on ESPN!

We got to go to JBC on Sunday, which happened to be our 6 year anniversary!!! Kayla made us cinnamon rolls and muffins that morning. Too sweet! We enjoyed church and lunch with the Silvios. That afternoon, we all went swimming at Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Max's. It was such a fun weekend! Better luck next year, Rice!Congrats to the Tigers, 2009 College World Series Champions!!!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
