The Shous (and Carpenters) came to town!!!

Some of my family came over last weekend for a visit! We had such a great time and packed a whole lot of fun into such a short time! My cousin, Lauren, came and spent Thursday night with us while my Aunt Jan and Uncle Byram stayed with friends who live in The Woodlands. They went tubing on the Guadalupe. Fun! I so much enjoyed having Lauren here and talking with her...it felt good to have another female in the house, and it's always great to be with a cousin! ;)

Friday morning, Lauren and I got ready and headed down to the Galleria with J-man in tow. We just browsed around until he was too tired for any more shopping. Luckily, it was right about the time Mom and LB were almost in town, so we left and met them over at the Westheimer Chuy's...oh man, was it good. Lupe has officially been bumped from my #1 Houston Mexican Restaurant (I might have to do a post discussing this in further detail later cuz it's kind of a big deal, but for now I'll leave it at that.) On Friday, I may have told you that Chuy's was a big contender for that spot. I wasn't quite ready to proclaim it, thought, because...well...it's not something I take lightly. We had an amazing lunch at Chuy's, and the jalepeno ranch dip and salsa have never been better. AH-MAZING. This was such a fun way to start out our visit. Jackson was great and of course lit up when KK walked in. He started giving her his "sweet eyes" and being all flirty. What a little ham. Or manipulator. He's something else.
Told y'all he loves my sunglasses...This is LB, J, Mom & Lauren after lunch at Chuy's.
Of course I didn't think about 2 pm on a Friday being rush hour, but it was. Haha. Mom and LB got to experience true H-town traffic! I still say it flows better than BR traffic even in the worst of times! We eventually made it home and just hung out. After Kyle got home, we headed out for a tiny bit of shopping and to get some yogurt from Tutti Frutti. (Another important discussion...Berripop was my #1 frozen yogurt joint with Fresh Berry as a strong contender, but Tutti Frutti has taken the cake.) 16 self-serve soft-serve flavors of yogurt, lots of yummy toppings, pay by the ounce....amazing. It will be hard to only go there once a week. Or once a day.

We got home and not too long after that Dustin & Mitch arrived, and we had a great time visiting and hanging out with everybody. Jackson was being a little show off and doing all of his tricks for everyone. My mom made a little ramp with a book tilted up against a piece of furniture and started rolling a piece of potpourri down it, and Jackson laughed hysterically...over and over and over. We were cracking up at him. I was beyond thrilled that they could be with us in our home where Jackson is his sweet, happy little self! It was great!!!

Saturday morning we all kind of slept in and had a late breakfast. Muffins and eggs (thanks, Kyle!) We headed out to Aviators Grill at Hooks Airport and had some yummy burgers and such. Fun! We then did some shopping, hitting up places like The Container Store (Mom & LB are obsessed and must go every time they come visit) and Charming Charlie, and then of course it was back to Tutti Fruitti. We just can't get enough.

Next, we headed down to Dave and Buster's near the Galleria. When we walked in, I was a little nervous about whether everyone would have fun here...especially since LB looked around like she was horrified. Haha! It was a blast. The games were fun, and J was very entertained! Kyle smoked me in air hockey, but I almost tied with him in basketball. Fun stuff.
Ummm...can you say...mesmerized??? We couldn't even get him to look up for a pic.
Air hockey was pretty intense.
Deal or No Deal was also intense.
Whac-A-Mole was more than intense...actually kind of scary.
Jackson already has "the video game stare" down pat.
We thought we should end on a good note, so we headed to Cafe Adobe on Westheimer. Oh man that place was good. The "Avocado Adobe" was a crowd pleaser. Some even said it was the "best Mexican dish they'd ever had"...others said things like "phenomenal." Brittany told me a long time ago that this was her Houston fave, but then they had a bad experience so my expectations were low. It way surpassed them! Loved it and was finally pleased to find some salsa that I LOVE in this town! dinner was great, and it was so sad to see them go. I will say that I've heard that the Woodlands location is rauncho, but the Westheimer one is great. Maybe we'll stick to that one.
After eating/right before they left Saturday night. I'm somewhat amazed that we accomplished all of this eating and activity in a little over 24 hours...Haha. We are just that good. Such a fun visit! Can't wait for Mitch & Dust to come back in November for MARY POPPINS!!! Yay!!!

PS - I'm totally being all random and Blogging out of order again, but I wrote this the night they left and just added the pics. I think that's how I'm going to start doing things. This would be much easier if Blogger wasn't so slow. I'm cracking up that I've written so many Blogs in the busiest week I've had in a while. That's just how I am...the more I have to do, the more I can get done. :)

PPS - We just got through Double Coupon shopping at Kroger. We saved $78 and didn't do much "pre-work" at all. Kyle just spend about 15 minutes clipping coupons. Nice. OK - J-man's asleep. Time for relaxation!!!
