*Update: I am laughing at how I said that this sickness has "slowed us down"...yet we've painted our house. HA! Apparently we don't know how to not do anything.*
You know...sometimes it takes a sickness to slow this family down. Unfortunately, we are usually partly grateful for some time in "isolation", although we hate when it's due to one of us feeling miserable.
I took J to the doctor Thursday morning for a rash that was concerning me, and it was just a Fifths Disease rash (a viral rash also known as "slapped cheek.") Although it's nothing to worry about, it can make a person feel lousy. I sent J on to school as recommended by the pediatrician we saw.
Thursday night, Kyle was working late and I had a real scare with Jackson. He went lethargic all of the sudden and got a high fever (103.2.) His eyes were rolling around, and he was sort of non responsive. I was scared to death and called my pediatrician's nurse line, and they instructed me to watch him closely and bring him in the next morning. (By the time they called me back, he was doing better. I had bathed him and given him some juice and Tylenol, and he fell asleep.) Sure enough, when we went in Friday morning, he was diagnosed with the "Flu".
Our little man is not the type to be slowed down, so he's been in pretty good spirits and just plays until he feels lousy. At that point, he either naps or watches TV. We've been comforting him as much as he'll let us. I can't imagine where he gets these stubborn tendencies from...can you??? ;) (ME! Kyle is happy to be laid up in bed if someone is taking care of him...ha! I'm pretty sure that's a "man" thing though.)
Anyway, what have we done with all of this time in isolation??
Watched plenty of Sesame Street, College Football, & Divine Design (when they let me have the TV); Watched "The Proposal"--loved it!; had a pizza party (yum!); painted our entire living area (living room and foyers); cleaned; paid attention to our little man, and had fun having an excuse to do absolutely nothing.
We hope our little man gets better soon. I think he is on the mend. He hasn't had the high, high fever today. It has only been around 101, so that is good (better).
Well, my afternoon coffee is calling me. Better go join the Sesame Street party going on in the living room.
Love to all.

Praying everyone in the family gets "all better"!!!! Hang in there...another aspect of parenting.
So sorry about the sickness, but happy you are having a family party! :)
I hope Jackson gets to feeling better soon!! :( When he is, I'd love to see pics of the paint job! (Were you listening to Christmas music while you painted?! :)
