Just another weekend

This is so not a Valentine's post. It's also not an anti-Valentine's post. It's just a post about the weekend. I really like to write about our weekends...and for some reason I always chicken out of doing it because I don't want to ever sound like "I-have-such-a-fun-life-listen-to-all-these-fun-things-I-did-this-weekend" or anything but I really like to have the memories! So, with that said, if you read my Blog I hope you know my heart. My life is totally fun, but only because Jesus is in it! And although I have a wonderful husband and sweet baby boy and more blessings than I can count, they are not what make my life filled with joy. My joy comes from the Lord!

I spent a lot of time yesterday thinking about how not everyone has someone to share Valentine's with, and how even though it's a silly holiday (don't go thinking I'm cynical because my man didn't treat me right because he did!), it can just make being single even harder. My heart is so very sensitive to that, it physically hurts sometimes. I just love that no matter what our marital state...Jesus offers all the love we need. I loved this post from the LPM Blog. It's lengthy, but very well written and beautiful. If you don't have time to read the whole thing, read this part:

But above all else, I’ll thank God for Jesus Christ because I know of only one feeling that is greater than being wanted and loved by my man and that is the rest and peace I have found in Christ’s scandalous love for me. The flame of his love for me can never be quenched. His desire for me is never dependent upon my youth or my (fading!) sexual allure. I don’t feel threatened but thrilled that He loves my beautiful female neighbor as much as He loves me. I don’t sense the panic to mark Him with any sort of seal because at last, He sealed me first. This isn't about Colin's love falling short in any way, shape, or form. This is about needing something more than any human being on this earth could offer me. Some folks call it a divine romance. I don't have words for it. All I know is His refrain has been reverberating since He came in the flesh several thousand years ago to save this world He loved:

“You are my beloved, and I am yours.”

The mystery is great-

But I am actually speaking with reference to Christ and the Church (Eph. 5.32)

And although you have not seen Him, you love Him. (1 Peter 1.8)

Is anyone still reading? If you are, you must really love me. I love you, too.

Let's see...the weekend...

Friday started out with a night AT HOME. It was so nice. The Olympics were kicking off so we just hung around and watched the coverage of the opening ceremonies. I was amazed at some of that stuff!

Saturday morning we all kind of slept in, and then I got up and cooked the boys breakfast. I know, right? But a girl can't just take for granted two precious man-people living in her house! Heart-shaped pancakes, "scromelets" as I call them (in other words I can't make an omelet right so I just scramble up all the ingredients), little smokies and fruit. They were totally surprised. Kyle was even more surprised that he liked my eggs. He generally says I over cook them. Well, I jumped out on a [pretty shaky] limb and lo and behold I pleased! I have no plans of taking on egg-cooking responsibilities, though. Let's not take a good thing and run it in the ground. (Maw Maw Silvio...don't worry. I do cook eggs for Jackson (almost every day). He likes my eggs. Just wanted to clarify because I know how you like those babies to get their eggs every morning. ;) )

Let's see...then we headed off to Old Navy to get our fast growing boy some clothes. He has outgrown most things he wears and is now wearing 2T in most things. I don't even have to tell you how I feel about the fact that I almost have a two-year-old. I can't understand why time is passing so fast. I know we are not to two yet, but so far I'm not convinced it's terrible. This stage has its difficult moments for sure, but I'm really enjoying it. I love seeing him learn so much and really start to develop his own little personality, which I love to pieces--mischievous or not. ;)

After Old Navy we braved Wal-Mart and got groceries for the next two weeks. Then it was home for NAPS!! Nick and Jaime offered to keep Jacks on Saturday night, and Kyle and I had a date night. Jacks absolutely loves spending time with Latham, so this was wonderful!! We decided to go to the Black Walnut Cafe because we figured it would not be crowded since it's more of a casual place. It was such a great choice! No crowds, good food, and great atmosphere. Then we headed off to the mall and just hung out.

Kyle was cracking me up...ranting about how he will NEVER pay for cheese on a sandwich...somebody tried to charge him a dollar for cheese on a sandwich a few weeks back and he is STILL mad about it! We talked about random things and just had fun. It was a blast!

Sunday was great. It was my first Sunday working in the crawlers room at church (more on that later), and I loved it. It was a bit chaotic because it was all new, but I can tell I will catch on quickly. We had a fun pizza lunch with our Life Group after church at our former teachers' house, and it was so much fun. She made wonderful banana pudding and all kinds of other yummy treats, and we ended up coming home with servings of two different desserts. Kyle was so excited to take the banana pudding to work today. He was talking about what a healthy breakfast it would be with all the bananas and dairy...I seriously love my husband. And his love for good sweets. And his funny ideas about nutrition. Mrs. Judy, if you're reading, I know...you didn't teach him that. ;)

Let's see...after that, we all took a nap. The boys headed off to FAITH around 5, and I had the night at home! Nice...

Jacks and I got to have lunch with my good friend Angela and her husband, Kevin, today. They were passing through town on their way back to BR from Austin. We met up at Chuy's--YUM! Jacks was absolutely wonderful, and it was such a great time. Too short!

A somewhat busy week ahead...Bible Study tomorrow night, a meeting at church on Wednesday morning, work tomorrow and Thursday, Playgroup Friday and then Childcare night at church on Friday night!! Yay for a date two weeks in a row! :)

Also, a note to all those concerned...I will be back in the land of Blonde hair on Saturday. My hair has not been greasy for the past month; it's just been in need of a highlight. I know you are relieved!

Well, I have really rambled. I'm scared to see how long this post is going to be. But after all, no one made you read it. To those of you who persevered through this whole thing, you deserve a gold star of friendship.

I love you.
