I'm relaxing for a few minutes before I do a little work from home and straighten up this kitchen, oh and oops I still need to work out. Better make this quick. I don't watch TV or anything (except for yesterday when I watched this documentary on Amish teenagers), so this is my way of getting "down time". I decided that I can't take naps because lately I have insomnia. I wake up in the middle of the night for NO reason and have trouble going back to sleep. So anyway, I need to be as tired as possible come bed time.
1. Kylio is in the process of training for a marathon! I'm so proud of him. This has always been something on his list of things he wants to accomplish. He decided he would bite the bullet and start training this past Sunday night. We have this little routine of going to a nearby park on Sunday nights, and we always walk there. Kyle left his keys and the garage opener on a bench at the park and had to run back to get them. It's a good little distance, and in that time he decided he's a good runner and has what it takes to run a marathon. Way to geaux, Kyle. Ha! He's planning on running a 1/2 first in Austin, which should be beautiful. It's a hilly one (we've heard), so I think some practice runs at Henry's Hill are in his future. For those of you who don't know, Henry's Hill is what we call my grandparent's house. Granny's dad's name was Henry, and their house is on a hill on her family property (that they now own). Makes sense, right? We think so. Anyway, Jackson and I can't wait to cheer daddy on and be waiting at the finish line. Plus, we're excited to go to Austin!
2. I have shamelessly begun introducing my child to coffee, and he's already a yuppie. He tells me in the morning (and sometimes at night), "MaMUH! I NEED my COFFE milk!" Haha. Before you go calling CPS on me, it's the tiniest bit of coffee and the tiniest bit of creamer mixed with about 7 oz of milk. Yes, coffee milk in a sippy cup. Ya gotta love it. I'll be honest - my motives are not pure. You see, coffee drinking is such a magical sport. It's best when those you love also enjoy partaking in such goodness. I don't have a coffee drinker in my husband, and I'm not even going there...although I was successful in turning an "anti-" into an addict. I won't name any names, but she's a full on coffee addict now. I also have proved successful at turning those who do not love Mexican food into those who do. So, it's not totally out of the realm of possibility that one day Kyle & I will have magical conversations over a cup of joe, but for right now, I have my sights on the little one. And so far it's working. I can picture it now. He calls and says, "Mom, can you put on a pot? We need to talk." I'll probably throw some cookies in the oven and he'll sit down in my living room and tell me he's met the girl he's gonna marry. And hopefully she's a coffee drinker, too. It will make the bonding process so much easier. Call me crazy if you want to, but I think I'm pretty clever.
3. I made the most scrumptious lunch for my Doodle Bug today. It was a ham and cheese croissant sandwich with avocado and boy was it heavenly. I tasted a little of it. I think he was a fan, too! Sitting down at his little table with him at breakfast and lunch are two of my favorite parts of our day together. At dinner time, he has started sitting at our table with us (instead of in his high chair), and it is so funny. I just can't believe that our baby is now a little person who holds conversations with us!
4. Speaking of conversations with us, on Sunday during lunch Jacks randomly blurts out "I have fun at VBS...I mean 'cunday chool' today." I said, "You did, baby? What did you do?" He replied, "They teach bout Jesus." Oh, it seriously hurt my heart! I had to call one of his teachers (who happens to be my good friend Jaime) right away and let her now! What a blessing.
Well, I thought I had more random thoughts floating around in there, but now I'm preoccupied with all I need to do. My time to get things done while the little dude naps is ticking away. I'm so excited about starting a book study on Beth Moore's "So Long Insecurity" with some girls from CFBC tonight. Should be wonderful!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
