This has been quite a busy summer! In fact, we've been on-the-go since spring. I still have lots to update you on (and, no, being pregnant is not on the list), but I just wanted to hop on and talk about today. Today has been the kind of day I always dreamed about before I became a mom. I will say that in my dreams it was not quite as humid, and my charming little man didn't have a botched up haircut with too short bangs, but that's beside the point. ;)
First thing this morning, Kyle left for work. He is in the middle of an incredibly busy season. I have been amazed (as always) at his ability to stay dedicated to and focused on a host of things at one time--without complaining. I don't know about you, but if I'm working 16 hour days...I'm complaining. This man comes home from a full day's work and continues to help me with Jackson and other household tasks. He serves at church. He plays sports. He keeps up with friends and family. He takes care of Jackson and me well and never fails to put us in the number 2 spot right behind his God. We are blessed beyond measure. When I woke up this morning to the sound of a text message from him telling me he had made it to work and was so thankful for my support this week, I honestly shook my head and hoped he wouldn't come to and realize that he's way outta my league. I'm so thankful for the example he sets not only for Jackson but for me.
I think I drifted off to sleep again before waking up to the sound of my littlest love calling for me on the monitor. He was saying, "Mom-EEEEE! I wanna lay down wit chu." I usually tell him to wait for me to come get him, but this time I yelled out, "Come on." He ran in with a smile and jumped up on the bed with me and we turned on the TV just in time for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse opening song. It's such a lovely way to start the day, and I mean that seriously. Mickey says, "It's a brand new day, whatcha waitin' for?" I love it. I also love that Jackson knows that I'll go get his milk as soon as Mickey and Company do the Hot Dog Dance. If you don't know the Hot Dog Dance, you should really learn it. I believe we are happier people because we start our day with it.
When the Hot Dog Dance was over, I sprung into action, making my little man some blueberry waffles with fresh blueberries on top (OK, I'm not super mom...really Aunt Jemima made them). We sat at his little table and had a delightful breakfast, just talking about whatever came to mind. Cars. Ducks. Blueberries. Birds. You know...things like that. Important things. We thanked God for our food and talked about how blessed we are.
We have been going~going~going, and my heart is always a little unsettled when I haven't had quality time with my boys. Quality time is my love language, and nothing says love to me more than a date with one or both of my boys. Today, Jacks was my stunningly handsome date to Bounin' Bears, a new Bounce House near our house. We pulled up and he could hardly contain his excitement. To say he had the time of his life in there would be a gross understatement. I had just as much fun as he did and ended up not feeling guilty about skipping my workout after climbing up slides and chasing him around for a good hour and a half. It was ridiculously fun, and I think he and I were both feelin' the love in a major way! Nothing says "I love you" to a two year-old-boy more than going down the "Adrenaline Rush" bouncy slide so many times in a row you start to feel dizzy. Although the room was spinning, I was deliriously happy. This was just what I needed today.
We came home and had lunch together. I made us hot lunches again, which always makes me feel so good. After lunch, I laid down with the little guy and started singing and rubbing his back. Nothing puts a baby to sleep like old hymns. They are so soothing and minister to me even as I sing. He was asleep within 5 minutes and looked so peaceful. I was overwhelmed with the feeling that I do not deserve such Love and my only response was to pray. Thank you, Lord.
Is every day like this? No way. In fact, these kinds of days are few and far between. I'm just basking in the obvious love that the Lord is pouring out on me today. This afternoon might be full of frustrations, but I'm thankful for the slice of Heaven that was this morning.

Yeah for a sweet morning! You got way more exercise than me (even at the fLC); I know. We did that on Saturday!
