Uncle Mitch & Aunt Dustin come to visit! (Weekend Recap)

Last weekend was so much fun! :) It was date night at CFBC, so Kyle and I headed out to Movie Tavern to see "The King's Speech" with Brad and Amanda. This was our first experience at Movie Tavern, and although I wasn't quite as stoked about the movie as most seem to be (judging from all the Oscar noms and Twitter talk), the whole experience was fun! For you Houston peeps who haven't tried it out, Movie Tavern is such a cool way to do dinner and a movie. The food is casual - Chili's type, and it's good. (They even have healthy options, score.) The place was very clean, and the service was good. I promise they're not paying me to say all this; it really was a neat place!

Anyway, back to the movie...I looked over to my right about 10 minutes into the movie and AJ was playing on her phone. No worries, she was just reading a summary of the movie...instead of watching it. Lol. I looked to my left and Kyle was searching Redbox for "The Social Network." Brad is just a good guy, so he was paying attention to the movie and not breaking any rules. Ha! We love the Joneses and had a good time as always!

When we got home from our date, Mitchell and Dustin had gotten into town and were waiting on us. Like any respectable guests coming from Louisiana during Mardi Gras season, they showed up with 3 Gambino's king cakes. Yummm. We ate king cake and caught up for a while. Jackson didn't waste any time getting Dustin wrapped around his finger and proceeded to drag her all over the house for whatever adventure he could imagine, mostly hide-and-seek. He loves to hide from Mitch, and he especially loves to be found by him since he's pretty boisterous, I guess you could say. We were all so glad to spend some QT with Mitch and Dust! They came with the "excuse" of bringing us ski clothes to borrow for our trip to Breckenridge. We packed so much fun/catching up into a 24 hour period! Maybe we can convince them to come back to pick UP the ski clothes when we're done with them? ;)

On Saturday, we all slept late and then got ready for the day, which included lunch at Chipotle, a trip to a cool music store for Mitch to scope out a Collings guitar, strolling around Discovery Green, dinner at Taste of Texas, and a trip to IKEA. SUCH a fun day, and of course Taste of Texas was the highlight. Kyle and I have officially decided that it is our favorite restaurant ever. It wins for the food AND the atmosphere AND the service. Phenomenal. I like to use the word "phenomenal" when I mean business. And I do.

We were sooooo sad to see Mitch and Dust go, but we had such a great time and made some great memories. They are such an inspiration to us, and just being around them for a little while was uplifting. We really wish we all lived closer. Can't wait till their next visit!

Pics from our time at Discovery Green...such an awesome park! We didn't explore the whole thing, but we spent a lot of time watching Jacks run up and down this hill! You can see Minute Maid Park in the background.

Sunday was church, and we had the privilege of hearing Dr. Emerson Eggerich (Love and Respect) speak in our morning service. Kyle and I went to the Love and Respect conference in September, and it was awesome! We both said we wish we had gone earlier in our marriage. Our church is hosting the Love and Respect conference at the end of February. CFBC and Houston area peeps - I highly recommend it! Well worth your time. Sunday night we had the awesome privilege of getting to do praise and worship with Shane and Shane. Our church gave the Next Gen leaders (preK - Jared...lol for those who were there) a special treat for our January leadership meeting. Instead of the usual training, they treated us to a Shane and Shane concert & served us yummy snacks before hand. It was such wonderful night, and it did us a lot of good. We had not seen Shane and Shane in concert since our very first date, which by the way I made Mitchell tag along for because I was afraid Kyle was going to try to kiss me! Ha! :)

It was such a wonderful weekend!
