Our Little "Pip Squeak"

I had my 36 week check up with Dr. White today, and it went well. He said that the pain I have been having is all normal and just to hang in there! He said that since the baby is so low and is head down, it's all just part of the process. (He also said the fact that he is so low is a good indication that I will not go much past my due date...let's hope he's right!) I am fine having some pain as long as the baby is okay. In some ways it's kind of nice because it's a reminder that he will be here soon! I asked Dr. White if I could hurt anything by walking around, and he said no. I was glad to hear that because I cannot stand lying or sitting around for too long. I almost went crazy yesterday. There is only so much yucky day time TV you can watch or reading you can do before you start to feel like your brain is turning to mush. Don't get me wrong, I've been resting because walking around IS painful, but I'm glad to know that it is perfectly okay for me to do so if I choose! It's actually a little better today, so that's good. I continue to sleep well no matter what, so I'm glad of that.

I also asked Dr. White what I should do if my water broke while Kyle was working since he would have to drive from downtown. I know this is not how it normally happens (except in the movies), but I just wanted to be prepared in case it did happen in that way. He said that I would most likely be fine to wait on Kyle, unless I have been walking around dilated for a while. If I have been, he said that I would be okay to drive myself to the hospital. I was glad to know that because although our neighbors across the street are great, I still would rather it be Kyle or myself driving me to the hospital! =)

This is where the "pip squeak" part comes in...
I asked Dr. White if he had any idea how big the baby was. He said that judging from my measurements, which are a little behind (measuring 34 weeks but I'm 36 weeks), he will be a small baby (6.5 or 7 lbs). He said, "Which would be a good thing for you, right?" Of course I was glad to hear this because I would like to deliver him without having to have a C-section if at all possible. Of course I just want him to be healthy so I am okay with whatever has to take place. He said that he is going to do an ultrasound next week just as a precautionary to make sure the baby is growing properly since I am measuring a little behind. I feel confident that everything is fine; I always had a feeling that he would not be that big. Kyle on the other hand is worried of course that he will be a "pip squeak" hahaha. I told him not to worry because plenty of people are born small and are not small later in life; likewise, many people are born big and are not big later in life (like Kyle for example!) My weight gain is good, so I know I'm doing my part to keep the little guy healthy.

That is all the news I have for today! We are getting so excited because he is coming so soon! I will of course post the pictures from the ultrasound next week and update you on "our little pip squeak".
