Hello From Downtown Houston (Entry by Kyle)

This is my first time to try out this "blogging" thing. I am on my lunch break, but it's a pretty nasty day outside so I'm not able to take my usual lunchtime walk around downtown. I haven't had time to post to our blog since we've moved here but Lindsay has been doing a good job of keeping it up for us.

First, I would like to once again give thanks to God for all He has blessed us with over the past 6 months. It's amazing how He works everything out in His timing. I was so worried last fall about finding a job after graduation. God was in control and continually shut doors at the bank and opened the door here with ExxonMobil that I was not even expecting. Of course, as He usually does, His plan for our lives was much better than mine. He continued to provide for us throughout the entire moving process. Everything seemed to work out perfectly every step of the way. He has certainly taught me the importance of giving everything to Him. I have always tried to accomplish things under my own power and not rely on Him for the things in my life. It has sometimes been a hard lesson to learn, but God is constantly faithful to His children in providing for us.

Second, I would like to thank our family and friends for their support throughout the "move". I know I've told many people this, but we could not have made this move without the love and support of every person in our family and all of our friends. You have all been supportive of us and always offering to help us no matter what. I can't tell you how much that means to me and I know it's the same for Lindsay. We are definitely looking forward to seeing everybody after the baby is born. The house is ready to go and we'll be looking forward to introducing him to everybody.

Regarding my job.....things are going great! I love the group I am working in. My boss is great, coworkers are great, and there is a cafeteria downstairs very similar to a college campus (minus the Chick Fila.....Dad, I think there's an opportunity here)! Who could ask for anything better??? To supplement what Lindsay has posted before, I am the Expense Analyst for the Lower 48 United States (everything except Alaska and California) for ExxonMobil's Joint Interest Operated-by-Others group in our Upstream line of business. You really get an idea for just how big ExxonMobil is when you type that out. It's a challenging job, but I love it because I am learning new things every single day.

We have been visiting a great church here by our house. God has already blessed us with an awesome Sunday School class which has given us the opportunity to meet so many great Christian couples that are very similar to us in many ways. I am so thankful to have been on the receiving end of such wonderful outreach by our class. I was invited to play on the class softball team and will be playing in a basketball league this summer. Coming from a church where we were very comfortable and knew almost everyone, it was very intimidating to begin the process over at a new church. However, God has once again provided for us and we know He will continue to do so.

Well, it's time for me to get back to work. I'm sorry this was so long. I don't have any fancy pictures or songs to include, but maybe I'll include that in my next post. We miss everyone back in the good ol' B.R. We love you all and can't wait to see everybody. It's going to be a busy month for everybody back home with multiple graduations. I'm extremely proud of my brother, Kevin, for making it to this point. It is scary to think that he is graduating and I am having a kid in the same month. He has worked very hard over the last couple of years to both work and go to school and it's all paying off for him now. I'm also glad he'll be continuing the Silvio tradition at LSU in the fall. I'm also very proud of my cousin, Ryan, and Kayla as well. God has truly blessed our family this year in so many ways! I hope everyone has a great Monday and I'll look forward to talking to everyone soon.

Love,
Kyle
