Jackson's Second Day

Jackson slept pretty well his first night. He made a constant "whimper" that sounded like an animal noise all through the night. It was the cutest sound we have ever heard. I was still hooked up to an IV because they were still giving me Pitocin, so I didn't really sleep much. I was still running on adrenaline and could not wait to get up and take a shower the next morning. (I was also dreaming of that yummy ham and cheese omelet for breakfast! You can order at 7 AM, and I called at a6:59. :)

Soon after we had breakfast and took showers and got dressed, Jackson's grandparents Paw Paw and Nonnie and uncle Kevin arrived! Uncle Keith and Aunt Kayla also came back to visit. They were so excited to meet him and could not get over all of the precious little noises he was making. They held him and took pictures.

3 generations! Jackson is the first 4th generation Silvio! As soon as we are all together at the same time, we will have to take a picture of PawPaw (Tony), PawPaw (Denny), Dad, and Jackson. Mr. Denny, Kyle, and Jackson are also all first born sons.
Uncle Kevin and Jackson. Kev wasn't sure about holding Jackson when we were in the hospital, but once we came home he held him a lot! So far Jackson is Kevin's favorite nephew! (Just because he is his only nephew)
Jackson is such a lucky guy. He has TWO sets of grandparents, TWO sets of great grandparents, 4 uncles, 2 aunts, great aunts and uncles, and many cousins and friends who love him so much (not to mention the coolest parents on the planet!) Not many children are blessed to have so much family to love and be loved by.

After Jackson was acquainted with his grandparents on the Silvio side, they all went to lunch at Boston Market (one of our favorite things about moving to Texas but it was Kyle's first time to go since we have been here) and then shopping at the mall. Dad brought home a LSU football to go in Jackson's room. He was so exhausted from the events of the previous day, but he couldn't wait to buy Jackson his first piece of sports memorabilia for his room! He has been trying to make Jackson watch the basketball games the past two nights but Jackson has not showed much interest. He said that if Jackson perked up and wanted to look at the TV when Dancing With the Stars came on, he was going to be worried. hahaha.

Not too long after they all went to lunch, Brittany and Ryan came back for another visit. They had only been there for 5 minutes when a nurse came and took Jackson for his circumcision. As soon as Jackson came back, we were all ready to love on him again.

Britt and I kept talking about how we could not believe that we are at this point...me being a mom. We have been best friends since 9th grade, and it's amazing to think that we have come this far together. I wish she was here to love on Jackson more often (and to help me decorate and make cute things for Jackson), but I know he will have a special place in his heart for his Aunt BB no matter how much distance is between us.
A little while after Britt and Ryan left, Jackson's family on the Shoumaker side showed up with the Carpenters! Great Aunt Jan, 2nd Cousin Em, and Casey. Our good friends Cindy and Cammie Deloney were also with them. Everyone took turns holding Jackson while I opened gifts for him! What a lucky guy!

Mommy's turn!
After all the excitement, the nurses took Jackson and instructed me to rest. PLEASE. First of all, how do I rest with you standing in here talking to me about how I need to rest? ...for 45 minutes! Ha. I tried, I really did, but it didn't matter if Jackson was not in the room. I missed him so much when he was gone that I kept wanting to call the nursery and say "BRING HIM BACK!!!" :)

Needless to say, not much rest happened but there's time for that later. That night I got to go sit in this amazing whirlpool tub and just relax. It was very clean and was just what I needed. I can't remember how any of us slept that night, but we were counting down the minutes until we could go home!

So that was the second day! Don't worry...I'm not going to write about everyday of his life...just the highlights!

Today is June 2nd (can't believe it), and we are doing great. We had a slightly rocky start with feeding, but we seem to be settling into a routine and Jackson has slept most of the night the past two nights, only waking up at 12:45 and 3:45 to eat. Praise God for that! Granny left on Friday and mom left yesterday, so we are on our own now! Kind of scary, but we have amazing friends here who are so supportive and willing to help us whenever we need it.

Granny and Mom were such a huge blessing while they were here...cooking, shopping, cleaning, handling "the night shift", hanging window treatments, pampering/spoiling us, loving on Jackson, calming our fears of inadequacy, counseling, the list goes on...we couldn't have made it through the first week without either of them. It's strange that over a week has come and gone. Our little man is here, and life is completely changed! It's so amazing to watch his little personality come alive. He is such a sweet baby! I have plenty more pictures to share of our homecoming and the first week and our visit with MawMaw and PawPaw this past weekend! I will get around to adding them sometime this week!

Much Love,
~Lindz
