Gustav Update

I was finally able to talk to my mom, and the amount of devastation in Baton Rouge is much worse than I thought. The media is really not paying much attention to the situation there because Gov. Jindal executed things so well & there aren't any horror stories about evacuees or people being left behind. Since the levees in NO didn't break, they are saying that "Everything is fine" and "It was not near as bad as we thought".

Our families are doing OK, but 400 people in the BR area have reported trees falling on their homes; most people don't have power (50% of BR is not expected to have power for 3-4 weeks--how crazy is that!?); there are trees down and debris everywhere. Anyway, I just wanted to set the record straight since evidently things are not as "fine and dandy" as the media is portraying.

You can see stories and pictures on the BR paper's site 2theadvocate.com.

Kyle & I are thinking about buying a few generators and going down there to make a few bucks...just kidding. On a more serious note, please pray for those affected and that BR can get up and running soon. I guess Kyle & I will stop calling people telling them how cold our house is over here in Houston. I know, we are so mean, right?
