No More Crazy Hair!

**Beware: In a second, if you choose to keep reading, you will see waaay more pictures and hear waay more than you care to see/hear about this event. I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself. Upon entering the hair salon, I instantly became Crazy Mom. I'm pretty sure Simon Cowell would call this post "indulgent" and roll his eyes. If you want to roll your eyes, that's OK, too. I'm rolling my eyes a little as I write it, I promise. **

Since I have become overwhelmed with trying to do a Blog about Jackson's First Birthday Party (which will be better known as "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To") because I've gotten all sappy and reminiscient...I decided to save it and work on it later. But...I CAN share with you some pictures and video from the J Man's first haircut, which he got the day after his party in Baton Rouge.

We went to Pigtails and Crewcuts, which is in Towne Center. I probably would not have made this big of a deal out of his first haircut (especially since it was really more of a trim of all the crazy pieces) had we been at home (yes, I'm finally calling Houston home), but I thought since we were in BR and could make a fun experience out of it with Aunt Kayla who (or whom? can't remember the rule) we rarely get to spend time with...why not?!?! And it was SO much fun.

Everyone at Pigtails & Crewcuts was sooo friendly, and everything about the place was so cute. (I highly recommend it to my BR friends.) They have a train table and all sorts of fun things to keep kids occupied. Speaking of the train table, when we walked in and approached the train table to hang out for a minute before AK got there, an older boy who was sitting at the table turned to his mom and said, "Mom, is SHE (pointing to my son) getting a haircut?" Mom says, "Ummm...that's a little boy." I interjected and said, "And that's why he's getting a haircut!" Haha. (a side note: I continue to be amazed at how YOUNG little boys know to do little boy things! He just picked up cars at that train table and started pushing them along the track. What!?)

Anyway...back to my indulgent post...J loved sitting in the little Radio Flyer fire truck, and it really kept him occupied while he was getting his "hair did." It was funny to me that he knew right away that he supposed to spin that wheel...and spent most of his time in the chair working really hard at it!

Enjoy the pictures and video. Remember, I already gave you permission to roll your eyes.

Here's a "before" pic:

Here are even more pics:

Getting the cape put on
Cool steering wheel
Love that silly smile
Whoa...what's happening back there, mom?
Haha...getting a little nervous, J?
My big boy! She let him play with the comb when she finished...
...And then she tried to take it away...Haha.
Pics with Mom & Aunt Kayla! What a handsome boy!
Still not sure why AK allowed him to pick a bracelet as his prize from the toy chest...;)
It's amazing to me what a difference this little hair cut made. He looked so grown up after. Kayla and I were so proud of what a champ he was! We left Pigtails & Crewcuts and went in Banana Republic, where I had to exercise some Mad Mommy Skills to keep Little Man occupied. He wanted so badly to play in the clothes racks, so I had to bounce around the store from mirror to mirror, pulling out all kinds of tricks to entertain him while AK shopped. He's not like that in the grocery store...Do you think he and Kyle have an agreement that when I'm in expensive clothing stores he'll act like that so that I won't be able to shop? Hmm...it's likely.

Anyway, I hope you haven't lost all respect for me.
Love you guys.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHA! I'm cracking up here...the pics are super cute and I love the video. Latham sat here cracking up at Jackson as he was driving the firetruck.

I wish I could get my haircut in a Radio Flyer fire truck. Those black chairs where I normally get my haircut are boring. Great pics!

wasn't planning to go all out for D's first haircut, but this looks so much fun and after all it is only once...
There are places around here too.
What a sweet little boy! Did he sit moderately still?

Thanks, y'all! Haha. I'm assuming that's Chris wishing to get his hair cut in a fire truck and not Bethany...she's way too cool for that. ;) And Margaret, yes, do it--it's priceless! OK it was actually not priceless, but not more than it would cost for the three of us to eat at Chick-Fil-A! And I know of one around here that has the RF cars...I think it's called Kool Kuts. He did sit surprisingly still! The movement you saw on the video was as crazy as it got. I think he was mesmerized enough by the truck not to get too out of control...genius idea on their part!
