Random Fun Saturday

I know this is so random that I am posting about one Saturday, but I got the urge to write about it that night when we were home, and I'm just now posting it...of course. I did not totally drop the ball on catching up on old Blogs...something has been wrong with our computer and it's memory. Hopefully we will get it fixed soon. Until I am able to sort through our pictures and upload the rest of the new ones, here is a rambling about one random, fun Saturday. :)

Last week was a long week for our little family. Kyle is right in the middle of his busy season at work, and we've had lots of other outside activities going on (Bible studies, sports, hanging out with friends, etc.), so we were absolutely exhausted Friday night. Saturday, we were ready to get out and have some fun!

It started early with haircuts for the boys. We decided to get J's hair cut at Sports Clips, where Kyle sometimes goes. Saturday morning was a little hectic at Sports Clips because they only had one stylist when we got there (on a Saturday, for real?). J was fine with it; he just wanted to run around the salon. Is that so much to ask of a patient toddler who had to wait an entire 45 minutes before getting his hair cut? When it was finally J's turn, the stylist (Corrine) was so sweet and really took her time with him. I held him in my lap, and he was great. He was really into the clippers and wanted to play with them. He also spotted a toothbrush on her station and really wanted to play with it, but she hid it thankfully. The child has an outright obsession with brushing his teeth. I guess that's a good thing?

Corrinne spiked his hair up in a little "fohawk" when she was finished. :)
All done! (Speaking of that phrase, J says it when he is "all done" now...so cute.)After the salon experience, we headed over to McDonald's and had a "Big Breakfast." Well, Kyle did. In fact, he ended up eating a Big Breakfast and a Pancakes with Sausage Breakfast himself. We ordered both so that he and J could share, but J was more interested in the playground. One of these days we will get smart and have him eat before we go to the play area. We don't eat in McDonald's that often, so I guess it doesn't really matter. I sipped on my coffee and watched Jackson play and chatted with Kyle about who knows what while a couple of flies swarmed behind me. Ewww gross. The McD's playground at Louetta and Steubner-Airline (Houston Friends) has a great play area for toddlers...if the flies don't bother you. I'll say it again, Ewww gross!

Anyway, when all that fun was over, we headed home for J's nap. Thankfully, he took a long nap and we were able to relax. I tried to catch up on Blogging, but that didn't happen because of all the computer issues. I gave up and read some and went to the gym while Kyle napped and did laundry. :)

And then...there was an unfortunate little occurence when J woke up...I was clipping his nails and made a mistake and sliced his little thumb open BIG TIME. It bled for a loooong time. So sad. I felt terrible. He didn't cry for long (he's so tough ;) ), but it did shake him up...and make him a little unsure of me for a while!
Later on when all that was a distant memory, we decided to head out to The Woodlands for dinner and to hang out. I discovered that I have been a silly girl for going all the way to I-45 to get there when the back roads are so much quicker. Oh, well. Lesson learned! Anyway, we tried out Sweet Tomatoes and loved it! It was such a fresh, yummy buffet (can you BELIEVE I just said that?!) I don't DO buffets--EVER--and I loved this one! The salad bar was amazing, and there was a great variety of stuff. Not a lot of meat, but plenty of good starches to satisfy the men in your life. Kyle had pizza, maccoroni, a baked potato, chilli, fruit, cornbread, some sort of pasta with beef in it, salad, a big brownie, and ice cream. HAHAHAHAH! That's my man! Jackson loved it, too, and kids under 3 eat free. We really liked that. I left feeling good and not repulsed like when I leave most buffets. I will admit, I am a buffett snob. It's a fault of mine.

After dinner, we headed over to Waterway Square. We actually parked at the Mall b/c they charge $10 to park in the lot at Waterway Square, and the Tinseltown garage was CRAZY, so we just figured we could walk. Anyway, we strolled around and looked at all the neat places. Then, we went down to the fountain area and let J play for a while. He was sooo funny. He was cracking up at the fountains. Of course he kept trying to "escape", so we were chasing after him alot. I was glad Kyle got to see where we go for play group a lot. He really enjoyed it and of course seeing Jackson in action.

We walked down along the Waterway and looked at the ducks, etc. I really want to go back and eat at the Goose's Acre, since it's right on the Waterway. I'm not sure what the food is like, but it looks fun!

J was hilarious! He kept laughing and looking at everyone as if to say, "Isn't this hilarious, people?!" Haha!
PreciousMost of my shots of Jackson are like this because he would literally hit the ground running every time we put him down. That's our little man.
Rough housing with Daddy...
The mosaics along the Waterway are so pretty! As we were walking back, these girls were handing out Buy One Get One Free coupons for Berripop--the yummiest little Frozen Yogurt Place! It's a Houston original, and they just opened one up in Waterway Square on July 4th. This was my 2nd time to have it, and it delivered yet again. ;) J was also a fan and kept begging for more. We had fun people watching and discussing things like the difference between yogurt and ice cream...haha!
After Berripop, we headed back to the car. I took Kyle to see the East Shore subdivision on our way home. This is a subdivision in The Woodlands where there are sections with different types of architecture from different places. For example, the first picture below has homes with Italian architecture; the second is a home from the Colonial section. Such pretty homes...(These are actually pictures from when I went with Becca.)

Anyway...that was our Saturday...the good and the bad of it! It was fun!

Glad ya'll had fun. I have done that to Carson's finger before too. It bled all night, but he didn't cry. THey are just tough. But my dad had just told me he see mom's cut their kids skin all the time in his clinic so don't use clippers, that's what I get for not listening.

What a fun day!
I love Sweet Tomatoes! Did you know there is one by Willowbrook too?
We ate at the Goose's Acre last week. It is pretty tasty--rather pricy but really fun to sit outside by the water.
That subdivision looks really neat. I will have to check that out. Where is it?
