BR Weekend Recap

I'm cracking up that I randomly decided to write a recap of our entire weekend...sometimes the mood to Blog just hits me. This post is definitely a rambling mess.

This past weekend we headed back to BR for another fun wedding weekend! This time it was for Mitchell's bachelor party...woop woop! Kyle was really excited to get to go and had a blast with all the guys. Jacks and I tagged along and had some of our own fun.

Thank goodness the trip got better after the torturous ride over (mentioned in the previous post.) Jacks did stay up pretty late Friday night because he was so excited to be at KK's house! I had fun visiting with mom, dad, and LB while Jacks enjoyed soaking up all the attention.

Saturday morning I woke up early and headed to Rigsby's for my highlight. Praise Jesus! Then I got to meet up with Kayla, for CC's Coffee. Praise Jesus again! Side note: LB got mad at me once during the weekend because I mentioned we should all go get Starbucks. *shudder*...have I been gone from BR that long that the thought of Starbucks is exciting to me? Yes, I have. You have to learn to make do, people. Ah! But I promise I have CC's at least twice every time I'm home. There's nothing better!

**Another side note, completely unrelated. A buck-naked (is that word Blog appropriate?) Jackson just ran into the office, handed me a ring, and said, "Ta-da!" I guess he's practicing for his ring bearer role coming up on June 5th. :) Kyle must have put him up to that. I assure you he will have on clothes when he bears the "rings" for Mitchell and Dustin.**

After CC's, Kayla and I headed to Mom's so I could get Kyle's paintball clothes to him (from my car) and so she could see Jackson. He was so excited to see his Aunt Kayla! :) He wanted her to pick him up and play cars with him. You know he loves you if he wants you to play cars with him. There were enough people around to keep Jacks occupied, so Kayla and I ran to Jason's Deli for a quick lunch. I'm crazy about their french onion soup when I'm in a soup mood. And I was.

Kayla and I parted ways, and I headed back to the Shous to chill while Jacks napped. We wanted him to be on his best behavior for Uncle Benj's band concert. I have not been able to attend one of Benj's concerts in a long time. He is such a talented percussionist, hence the reason he won the "Big Stick Award"--the highest percussion honor. :) We really enjoyed the concert! Jacks was very entertained by it all.

After the concert, Kyle, KK, Poppy, LB, Jacks and I headed for a very quick dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Then it was time for me to head to a late night scrapbook lock-in thingy with Britt and Ed (BB's mom and my second mother since the 9th grade). Yes, that's right. 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Craziness! I had SUCH a fun time hanging with Britt and Ed, and it was just like the good ole' days. Except we were in a scrapbook store in very close quarters with other scrapbookers who probably thought we were weird because we were so giddy to all be together. I worked on a banner for Jackson's birthday party and then helped Britt a little with her project. It was so fun! BB and I haven't gotten to hang out for that length of time since I moved. I flaked out at 1 a.m. and headed home to a house where everyone was conked out...even the bachelor. He was on the couch donning an airbrushed T-shirt that had prison-ish detail and said "Sentenced for Life" and "I Love Dustin"...I was cracking up. I can't believe that was the last time I'll stay there with Mitch living there. It must be hard for the younger ones to watch the older ones fly out of the nest, but it's pretty hard for me to watch them do the same. I'm so excited for Mitchell and really the change couldn't be better. We're adding an awesome girl to our clan. :) Exactly one month from today!!!

On Sunday morning we got to go to JBC and worship with our home town peeps. It was wonderful! Jackson ended up in the same nursery room as his buddy, Maddox, so that was fun and exciting. After church, we went to eat with the Shous plus Keith, Kayla and Jase at Chimes...YUM. This was after I was vetoed for Mexican. I had been dreaming of Las Palmas for a couple of weeks (since the last time we were in BR), but they all shut me down. So, Chimes it was. And seriously, it was amazing (as always.) This is all I have to say to describe that experience:

stuffed shrimp
crab claws
boudin balls
shrimp po-boy

I so badly wanted to have room for bread pudding, but it just didn't happen. Next time!

Anyway, we headed back to the Shous and ended up sticking around til early evening because Dustin and Mitch showed up. We sat out on the porch talking and watching the misty rain. I love my mom's porch. I would attach a picture if my computer wouldn't freak out when I tried to add it. We are looking at computers and planning to get one soon. When we do, I promise I'll be a better Blogger. Maybe I'll even do my Thanksgiving and Christmas posts I never did...ha.

We made it back to H-town around 10:30 Sunday night. It was such a fun weekend. Can't wait to be back soon! :)
