This past weekend was our first weekend in a long time that we nothing major on the calendar. It was the kind you love to see coming and want to cry when it's over. Kyle and I differ in how we like to spend weekends such as this. He likes to actually relax, and I like to plan fun things for us to do. We have--by some miracle--found a way to do a happy mixture of both, and it works out quite nicely.
Friday night was date night. We decided to go to Beck's. I am kind of sort of trying to eat better right now, so I had a garden salad. I snuck (is that the past tense of "sneak"?) a bite of Kyle's cheeseburger, and it made me wish to be someone who could eat whatever she wanted and pay no consequences.
We made this date really old school by heading to Mountasia after dinner to play putt-putt golf. We had so much fun! Kyle refrained from making too much fun of me even though on several holes it took me ten...yes, ten tries to get the ball in the hole. His only comment was that I looked cute trying. Thank goodness.
Kyle tried out the batting cages before we played putt-putt.

We capped off the night with some yummy soft serve from Tutti Fruiti and headed to pick up our little man. I always love to see what craft he comes home with from childcare night at church. This week the theme was "Community Helpers", and he got into the car proudly wearing a "Chef's hat." Kyle and I so much appreciate our wonderful church for these date nights! I know Jackson loves it, too!

Saturday morning, the boys worked in the yard while I worked inside on the house and on VBS stuff. When they got good and tired, I came to their rescue with some lemonade. Jacks was in hog heaven being Daddy's Little Helper. He sat on the bench next to Kyle and kept saying, "I drink a memanade with Daddy!" :)

Saturday night we headed to The Woodlands Mall to eat and then to Waterway Square. Jackson had fun playing in the fountains.
It took him a minute to warm up. He did some serious people watching before deciding to play.

I thought this man's little snow cone stand was so quaint. They were showing an outdoor movie and had snow cones, popcorn, etc. We didn't stay for the movie since it wasn't starting until 8:30.

We love this area and come here quite a bit when we have nothing to do. They play fun music, and there are lots of families just enjoying being together.

Kyle will never admit it, but he loves having his picture taken.

I took this shot when we were leaving of all the people ready to watch the movie. They were showing Beethoven. I'm thankful to live in such a family-friendly place with such a friendly little family. :)
