Bedtime Convo w/ Jacks

On the night we returned from our New Year's trip to North Louisiana, we got Jacks bathed and put him in bed not long after we got home . He's been "so sared" in his room at night lately and needs a little comforting before drifting off to sleep. Don't worry; he's not scared of big bad monsters just yet. When I asked him what he was scared of the other night, he replied, "I'm 'sared' Nick, Jaime and Latham are gonna come get me." (Those are our good friends and his Life Group teachers, ha.)

Anyway, we said our prayers that night and were pretty sure Jacks had drifted off to sleep because he didn't come back out of his room. We left to go watch TV for a while. To my surprise, when I walked in the room to get in bed (We are sleeping with him while our room is painted...), he whispered quietly, "Hey Mama."

Me: "Jacks...are you still up?"
Jacks: "Yes, I'm am."
Me: "What's going on, baby?"
Jacks: "I'm 'sared'."
Me: "Baby, you don't need to be afraid. God is watching over you and protecting you as you sleep."
Jacks: "Where is God?"
Me: "He's in Heaven."
Jacks: "Where's Jesus?"
Me: "He's in Heaven, too, with God. They are watching over you, so you have no need to be afraid."
Jacks: "Where is Heaven?"
Me: "Waaay up in the sky."
Jacks: "But God's too far."
Me: "He's not too far. Did you know that when you ask Jesus to come and live in your heart that He will live with you all the time?"
Jacks: "He's too tall for my heart."
Me: "Aww, no baby he's not too tall. He sends his Holy Spirit to live inside your heart, and he's with you all the time."
Jacks: "But where is Heaven?"
Me: "Waaaay up in the sky. God is watching you. Go to sleep."
