First Day of PreK :)

I absolutely cannot believe the time has already come for our little man to start PreK! Of course nothing is really changing as far as his schedule goes--he's still only going twice a week. Next year, he will most likely go three days since the following year he will be going FIVE for Kindergarten. Slow down, time.

Anyway, back to PreK...since Kindergarten will come soon enough on its on. :/

Tuesday night  (August 23--I started this blog a month ago, ha) was "Meet the Teacher" night at Jackson's new school. When we pulled up in the parking lot, we had a dialogue that went something like this:

J: Mama, is this 'pee-school?' (said with wide eyes and anticipation)
L: Yes, baby, it is!
J: I love 'pee-school'
L: I think you will love preschool, too.
J: Well, who is my teacher?
L: Mrs. "P" is your teacher.
J: I LOVE Mrs. P! (had not even met her yet) :)

So, off we went into the new building to meet new teachers, new friends, and have new experiences. Jacks was a little shy (hilarious--what a joke) when we first walked in the room, but he quickly warmed up and started playing around the room. Kyle got there not too long after, and he seemed thrilled to have us both in his new classroom.

Jacks' actual first day of school was August 25, 2011. He and I did our usual "First Day of School Breakfast" on the way to school (Kyle usually makes it but couldn't this year), and he was such a sweetheart. He kept thanking me over and over. We had fun.

When I walked him into the classroom, it was time for him to put his back pack and lunch where they belonged. He found his name on his little basket, and he did everything like such a big boy with only a little help from me. He kissed me goodbye and walked right into his fun, new room. There I stood, outside the door, the only parent without my DSLR...or even a phone. The other parents were snapping pictures in full force, and I halfway felt sorry for the kids, halfway felt guilty that I didn't have my camera. Ha. I really didn't want to walk off with all the parents in the room and my tiny little guy sitting at a table already engrossed in some drawing task, but I felt silly standing there without a camera. I took in the sight of my growing little man (who was JUST a baby) for a few seconds and my eyes filled with tears. I know it's just preschool, but it's the start of SCHOOL. When I picked him up that afternoon, he was oozing with excitement about his day. He told me he obeyed his teachers and had a lot of FUN. Every school day since then has been the same. He absolutely loves going to school. I'm so proud of our little man. His excitement for life is contagious. :)
