In the beginning of this pregnancy, Kyle and I decided that we were going to do just like we did with Jackson and not announce our baby's name until her {birth}day. We had several reasons for doing this the first time around, one being that we didn't want to hear criticism of the name that we chose. It's much harder to criticize a baby's name once you see him or her. The other reason was just that we thought it would be fun to have something that was a secret for the big day. Well, when we found out this baby was a girl, I pretty much knew we weren't keeping the name a secret. I mean...hello...things have to be monogrammed. ;) Kyle was still dead set on keeping the name a secret, so I agreed {with the exception of a few "slip-ups"} to wait 'til the end to announce it. One thing that neither of us considered was if that was our plan...we really shouldn't have let Mr. Jacks in on our little secret. ;) He's pretty much guaranteed to spill any news he hears...to every one he sees. He's social!
I guess we could have kept her name a secret from him, but it has just been so fun to actually know her name and start referring to her as that. With Jacks, we truly didn't decide until the very end (like we were already living in Houston when we settled on it), so we never really called him Jackson before he was born. This time around, we have known pretty much all along what her name would be, but we felt like it was too early to put it in "writing"...or thread...or wooden letters...or anything else girly and fun; however, since her name is one that we've always liked and even discussed using loooooong before we started a family, we decided we must really love it because it has stood the test of time (for us.)
So, after all that rambling, here is her name...
Reese Emmalie
Reese is a family name on my side, and we just love it. My Pappy's mom (MawMaw Cathey) was a Reese (maiden name.) I've always loved it and hoped to use it if I had a little girl. I remember being scared to tell Kyle in case he didn't like it (long ago), but he loved it! (I remember exactly where we were when I told him Reese was my favorite girl name...We were under the overpass at Highland and Old Perkins. I remember being so excited that he liked it--ha.) In attempt to make sure we really made sure this was THE name, I tried to throw out tons of other names, and it was the only one we would go back to in the end. For a while I thought I would want to use a double name because I love their Southern charm, but Reese has just stuck for us. Emmalie was randomly chosen because we think it sounds pretty with Reese, and it's just a pretty name. :) My sweet cousin's name is Emily, too, so that's a plus. <3
We are so excited about our baby girl, and we can't believe she will be here so soon--16 weeks to be exact. I don't know how in the world I got to being 6 months pregnant so quickly, but here we are. I'm feeling great and super excited to do this baby thing all over again. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the benefits of having a pretty independent kiddo. I have a feeling he's going to be such a great helper with Miss Reese. :) I need to write an update on him later...he's grown up so much and is just blossoming into the sweetest little guy. He's stubborn--yes, but he's so darn cute. And hilarious. And smart. And silllllly. I love his passion for life. He is just the kind of guy you want to be around (most days.) ;) I hope little sis can hold her own around here. She stands a chance because her name happens to mean "fiery and zealous." I really regret that I saw that because now I'm slightly worried, but I decided I'm just going to pray that she's fiery and zealous about the Lord and not fiery mad at me. Ha. Feel free to pray too. :)
That's all for now. More updates soon! :)

Yay Miss Reese!!! :) You know I love it!!!
Of course you know I'm partial to the unique spelling of her middle name...our Emmalie Joy...her daddy created that spelling!
Loventhe name Reese!
Mrs. Rebecca--I did not know that! How neat. I did know that was her spelling, and ever since I met her I've always loved it! I had no idea we'd end up having a first name that would go well with Emmalie for a middle name, but I totally modeled the spelling after hers. :) I just love it. She's the only one I've ever met with that spelling.
Thanks everybody! Your comments mean a lot! We are so excited! :)
