The post about how my house has been clean for over a week now

It may seem like I'm bragging, but I'm not. I'm in utter shock. I didn't think I had it in me. Granny and Pappy visited us last weekend, and I told Granny that before she left I wanted her to leave me a list of what to do every day to keep my house clean. Our house is typically straight, but I am sooo bad about letting our Master Bed and Bath get way too far gone. Kyle is super duper helpful around the house, but I really wanted to take some of the pressure off of him since I have the time to keep this place clean but apparently not the organizational skills. I also really fight OCD, and sometimes it's hard for me to straighten here and there if I don't have the time to get things completely spotless. I MUST get over that! And I think this week I've done a great job of that.

So, sweet Granny left me a list and of course a disclaimer at the top saying that I was already doing a good job. ;) She was just being sweet. I want to share it with you in case you--like me--are "domestically challenged". Here were here suggestions:

1. Continue keeping clothes in right places. At the end of each day, take a few minutes to get clothes in order from the day.
2. Keep bathroom and kitchen the cleanest. Wipe comode seat and under seat every 2 0r 3 days. Mop weekly those rooms.
3. Just trust the Lord for His goodness and blessings.

(She goes on to say "...and Gran will always be available to help in any way possible. Homemaking is ongoing--It's a privilidge we cannot take for granted!")

I have followed Granny's advice this week, and lo and behold the laundry has stayed caught up and the house is clean! For me, the biggest thing has been taking about 30 mintues at the beginning and end of the day to unload dishes/start laundry/pick up toys/etc.

We'll see how long I can keep it up. I hope it's a new habit that stays! It feels ten times better to actually be able to relax knowing I'm not leaving anything undone. And we have more time to do what we truly do best...PLAY! :)

great advice...I realized recently that I struggle with doing anything at all too since I cannot do it all every time.

I prefer to think of it as a frustrated perfectionist, not OCD. Great advice we all can use from your Granny!
