Wedding Week

OK so when I started writing this post, I was just going to do a quick run down of the rest of our summer. In the process, I realized how many things...IMPORTANT things I would be skipping over. So, instead of this being a post about random summer events, it's a post about the rest of the month of June. :)

My friend Jaime and I got to teach a class of 3 year olds during VBS at our church.

3 year olds = precious.

Here are just a few pics of some of the cuties in our class. The boys loved the "baby" (aka Jackson) and kept asking when he would come in our class. One boy asked me if he could tickle him. Ha!

When VBS was over, our "Wedding Week" started. We rolled into BR just in time to change and head to my good friend Angela's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, and I am SO glad we were able to be there.

We usually get into town after dark, so it was so nice to come in when it was still daylight and catch this beautiful sight from the Mississippi River Bridge...TIGER STADIUM. Geaux Tigers!!!

This is the only picture I have of Kyle and I all dressed up that night. Apparently Kyle was on the phone. He did smile for the pic, though. :)

Angela was a beautiful bride!! I LOVED her hairpiece. She and Kevin actually did their first dance twice because the first time they did it, the bridal party and all the close family members, not to mention the photographer and videographer, were not in the room yet. When they realized this, they had to do it all over again. Haha!

The next morning (Saturday), we got up and headed to start the wedding fun for my cousin, Emily, and Casey (her fiance at the time, now husband.) :)

We went up to Shreveport through Mississippi (not the route we usually take), and I thought this bridge in Natchez was pretty. I actually thought Natchez was pretty charming and wouldn't mind going back.

We rolled up to Gran and Pap's to the sight of them waiting for us on the porch...one of my favorite sights of all time. :)

They kept Jackson while we headed out to Em & Casey's fun couples shower. While we were gone, J-man got to do fun stuff like this: (that's him in the wagon...;) )

The shower was a Mexican theme, so you know I enjoyed myself. They got lots of nice stuff, and it was so fun to visit with everyone!

The wedding was on Wednesday, so we had a few days to hang around Gran and Pap's and also participate in some of the wedding fun in the days leading up to the wedding! I went to church with Gran and Pap on Sunday, which happened to be Father's Day. Jackson was lucky enough to be in Granny's Sunday School class, and we made "Daddy" a card. We all went to eat at Country Cottage, one of our favorite restaurants near G & P's, after church. Just good ole' home cookin'. Yum.

Let's see...what else???

Well, lots of "humdingers" were made. What is a humdinger, you ask? It's a term Pappy and Kyle came up with to describe a little something like this:

Kyle and Pap serving up their humdingers. Typically, Pappy is only allowed humdingers on Sundays, but all the rules go out the window when Kyle's in town. Kyle being in town also means Granny gets "Blue Bell" instead of "Blue Bunny." I think they had a humdinger every day that we where there.

And besides humdingers, there was lounging in the pool...

...chasing "Kitty...

...playing in the water...

...and excitement like this (a turtle that Kyle and I found on our way home and brought to Jackson only to find out that it was a snapping turtle that he couldn't play with...which kind of disappointed him)...

...cruising on Granny's riding lawn mower (and Pappy's tractor, wish I would've gotten a picture)...

And let's see...there was some of this...

...a little of this (that must have been the last time J sucked his thumb because he doesn't do it anymore)...

...and OH, so SHE'S the one who taught him how to talk on the phone!! It wasn't me after all! :) Just kidding, Gran. But you got busted!!

Mom and the sibs showed up on Monday I believe, and it's funny, but I have no pictures of them. I DO, however, have pictures of the pies that they brought from Amy's pies somewhere off the beaten path between BR and Shreveport. And let's just say it's worth the extra miles for these babies. Apparently Mom, LB, and Jason stopped and ate pie before picking up these two to bring with them.

Speaking of pies, somewhere between all the hanging out on "The Hill", we made it over to Shreveport and grabbed lunch at Strawn's with Emily and Aunt Jan. I can't believe I lived in Shreveport until the age of 9 and didn't have Strawn's Strawberry Pie until this summer. Mom? Dad? Anyone? Explanation?

On Tuesday, we got to go to Emily's Bridal Luncheon. So fun! Her friends did SUCH a great job with it, and it was so fun to visit with all the girls. It was my first time to have strawberry soup, yum!

Aunt Donia was in from Portland, Oregon, so it was so fun to be around the 3 sisters. They are a hoot. Granny was on cloud 9 being with both Aunt Donia and Aunt Von.

Wedding Day: Mom, Aunt Jan, and I went over to the restaurant where the reception was held to set up the tables, so I snapped a few pics.

I think he was being a smart alec here, but all the more reason for me to post it. This is my favorite outfit K-Sil wears. He looks like the President! Don't you think K-Sil would make a good President? :)

There was a lot of scandalous behavior going on before the wedding...here the guys are huddled in the back listening to the LSU baseball game.

I also caught mom and Benj up to no good. No worries, the wedding had not begun yet. Dad didn't sit with us because he officiated the ceremony! It was his first wedding to do, and he did AMAZING! I was so proud of him! It was very special.

Off they go!

The wedding was SO much fun and such a great celebration of Casey and Emily!!! Emily was the most laid back bride I've EVER seen. As of the morning of the wedding, she didn't even know how she was going to do her hair! And she wasn't worried one bit. She just sat around drinking coffee with us. LOVE that about her. She really enjoyed her wedding day. I think we all did! Of course I was a wreck during the wedding; it was just beautiful. Casey and Emily moved to Tampa in July, and they are doing really well! We are very glad to have Casey as a part of our family. Our little family just keeps getting bigger and better all the time! :)
