So Jacks is starting to be able to handle the front yard, so we have been going out there more often. I guess I should scratch that and say that I have been able to handle taking him in the front yard--ha! I didn't like taking him out there before because all he did was run toward the street, and that was so nerve racking to me.
Anyway, today we went on a little "walk". He was doing the Fred Flintstone on a little hand-me-down trike from his cousins. It took us 30 minutes to get to the stop sign at the end of our block and back. Not because we were so slow, but because there was just so much to see between "home" and there.
"Look, Mommy! A bug! Bugs, mommy, BUGS!!!"
"Look, Mommy! Grass! I see a fwol-er!"
"Ooo, uh-oh. Bo-Bo. I dit a rag (I get a rag)."
"Oooo Mommy, mare-mare!" (He went from saying "air-pane" for airplane to "mare-mare"...not sure why, ha!)
(Sees a neighbor's newspaper on the sidewalk:) "Oh, no. Mommy. Fall. I dit it." Then he proceeds to move the newspaper off of the sidewalk and onto their grass where it should be (according to him.)
"Look, Mommy! Cars! House! Pice (Police) car!"
"Oh COOL, a BIKE!"
We also saw a fire hydrant and talked all about that, talked about things God made, and said hello to all the kids walking by on their way home from school.
Haha. Anyway, it was such an entertaining walk. I love his amazement of everything around him. We saw my neighbor from across the street as we were coming home, and she is pregnant with her 4th baby, due in July. She has three boys, and this one's a GIRL!!! So exciting!
When we turned into our driveway, Jacks said, "Look, Mommy! HOME!" That made my heart so happy. Hearing him say that made me forget about how messy my room and bathroom are and rejoice in the fact that HOME is a happy place for my little man.
I would be only telling the good stuff if I ended here. Our precious "walk" went sour in about 2.5 seconds when Jacks realized we were about to go back IN our HOME. Ha. I felt so ridiculous trying to get him of the trike as he wrapped his feet up underneath it and let out a cry that sounded like demons were living in his tiny little body...I kid you not. It brought new meaning to the phrase "laugh to keep from crying"...I literally started laughing and could not stop. I mean, seriously, I KNOW I'm a lot stronger than him but in that moment I could not get him off that thing. Ha. I finally did and he continued the "demon cry" all the way into the door. I then put myself in time out because I couldn't think of anything nice to say or do. After about two minutes he found me in my hiding spot, and he said, "Where Mommy go?" I said, "She's in time out." He said, "Oh." Ha.

Wise woman to put yourself in time out to avoid a nasty scene. I will remember that one.
